Summer means BBQs and parties every weekend. I swear the turn up never stops! The wonderful people at The Baddish Group were so gracious to send me a bottle of byejoe Red, a baijiu which is a Chinese spirit hitting the shores of the USA. Baijiu literally means “white spirit” but not the scary kind that comes in the middle of the night. Coincidentally my best friend Belle looks like the girl on the bottle!

My cousin had a BBQ so I thought it was the perfect time to try it out. The drink is usually taken straight which we tried and it was strong! It definitely hits you in the face but ends on a sweet high note. My cousin Mario said it tasted like plum brandy and that it went well with the salad. My other cousin TJ said it tasted like raw garlic and cucumbers. I’ll leave you all to decide who’s side to take! Hahah. After taking a few shots I thought it was time to try a cocktail. I made a Red Lantern (recipe below) which was refreshing!.. and strong. The liquor cuts through the mixer, which depending on your preference could be good or bad.

I decided to take some inspiration from the bottle design and work it into my outfit. The text bubble on the reminded me of my Offensive tee that I designed last year. Summer nights in the Bay Area still get chilly so I layered my slouch tee with my Rag&Bone knit cardigan.
